Rebecca Reavley

Rebecca Reavley is a British-Chinese classical soprano from Singapore. She is a multi-faceted musician, working as a singer, accompanist, choral conductor and educator.

As a singer, she is making headway in Singapore as an active Lieder and Concert singer. In 2020, she formed a partnership with pianist Pamela Krakauer, exploring their mutual interest in lieder and opera repertoire. Notable projects include a concert in celebration of Austria’s National Day with the Austrian Embassy Singapore, a virtual recital with National Gallery Singapore as part of their Resonates With series, and a music video funded by the National Arts Council as part of the project Home Songs. They also hosted their own lecture recitals in the Esplanade recital studio, performing Berg’s Sieben Frühe Lieder in May 2021 with talks by musicologist Peter Krakauer, and Poulenc’s La Courte Paille and Bernstein’s I Hate Music in July 2021.

She attained her Bachelors in Music (Hons) at the Royal Northern College of Music, graduating with a First in 2020. She majored in voice with the tenor Peter Wilson as her tutor. In her time there she also worked with other established artists like Benjamin Luxon, Michael Chance, Lynne Dawson, and Dame Eiddwen Harrhy. Alongside her studies as a singer, she continued developing as a pianist, and studied piano accompaniment with David Jones and solo piano with Sam Brook. She is currently continuing her vocal studies with the renowned soprano Barbara Bonney.

As an educator, she has a wide range of experience teaching solo singers, choirs, piano, theory, and musicianship. She has a passion for combining vocal instruction with musicianship and theory to produce well-rounded singers who can appreciate both the beauty of their instrument and the music that they sing. In 2021, she was a conductor of the Junior Choirs in the Voices of Singapore Children’s Choir. She also worked with local school choirs as an accompanist for Francis Liew and an assistant conductor for the Kodaly Academy of Music. She is currently an Artistic Coordinator with the Voices of Singapore Children’s Choir, and a voice teacher with the Voice Company.
